Time is tight for storm chaser Tim Samaras, who races back to his van to grab a 45-pound (20-kilogram) meteorological probe and get it into place. An F-3 tornado, with estimated wind speeds of 158 to 206 miles an hour (254 to 332 kilometers an hour), bears down on him as it churns across Iowa cornfields.
