The Party's Over
Photograph by Alexandra Boulat

Exhausted, a dancer (in yellow) rests her head on the shoulder of her friend, the bride, after performing at a wedding in Taarart. "I'd danced all night and I had a headache," she says. "But dancing has helped me find some peace after a difficult divorce." In this Muslim culture, Berber women in the eastern High Atlas tend to enjoy greater freedom of dress and movement than their counterparts in other parts of Morocco.
