Young members of the Cheyenne River Boxing Club work up a sweat in the basement of their coach, Joe Brings Plenty, on South Dakota's Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. Brings Plenty teaches respect, discipline, and moral values—as well as how to deliver a left hook. Because of the prevalence of drugs, alcohol, and gangs, "the reservation is a tough environment for these kids," he says. "There is a lot of peer pressure and they need good role models."
