Riding in Style

Newfound prosperity from gold mining has spawned the purchase of such luxury items as motorcycles and pickup trucks here transported by a jury-rigged ferry made of two boats lashed together. Elsewhere, new bridges have increased traffic in a land where rivers have long been the major highways. In addition to the population influx from the mining boom, other migrants to the valley hunt game for sale, leaving some areas with reduced animal populations.
