Sugar Rush Photograph by Robb Kendrick
Clamoring for sweets, child jockeys reach for candy doled out at a camel-racing track. Such joys are few for the little boys, most of them between three and eight years old. They were sold by their families in places like Bangladesh to ride camels in Arab countries, a trade deplored by human rights groups. Says photographer Robb Kendrick: "The owners ride alongside in their SUVs on a separate track, yelling at the jockeys, urging them on. I saw one of the kids fall off." |
