Who Goes There?

Mix a few gray-haired protesters, some American flags, and the studied nonchalance of students and—click—capture the essence of Athens. "I wanted to get at that elusive sense of place," says Michael Brown, who hung out at Court Street to stalk his quarry. "The kid with the funky hairdo, I thought he represented Athens fairly well," says Brown, whose college town—thanks to the notable VisCom school—is one of the most photographed in the nation.
