Where the Peaceful Waters Flow
Photograph by
Sam Abell
A soft rain spatters a pond in East Garden, a public section of the Imperial Palace where decorative carp patrol the water. The gardens azaleas, irises, and other flowers are carefully choreographed to provide a continuous show of color through spring and early summer.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR COMMENTS:
I chose a wide-angle lens to draw both the fish and the distant garden into apparent focus and waited for the fish to compose themselves.
